Many of Mary Belle de Vargas' paintings were landscapes and nature scenes inspired by geographies and flora found near her Natchitoches, Louisiana, home. Her painting "Vagabond Trail of Louisiana," shown here pinned to a board ouside her studio, is an example of such work. Later in life, she became intrigued by the popularity of Salvador Dali, and dabbled in surrealism, as demonstrated in her painting "Adoration of the Sun."
